Former Boxing great Alexis Arguello reportedly has passed away today apparently as the result of a self inflicted gun shot . Arguello was truly an all time great from what appears to be the last great era of boxing. He was a champion in 3 different weight classes Featherweight, Junior Lightweight and Lightweight divisions. He was denied a 4th title in two epic battles that resulted in losses against Junior Welterweight champion Aaron Pryor. Both of the losses were somewhat controversial as Pryor was thought to have been taking illegal stimulants in the first match and had padding removed from his gloves in the second. His career record was 82-8 with 65 KO's. He fought professionally from 1968 to 1995. He was 57 years of age at the time of his passing.
